I have over 2000 sync issues, and this number cycles constantly to a few hundred to a few thousand, never seeming to stop. Sometimes, this happens even for files within onedrive (again, I have full permission for all folders involved). (I have full permission, and have even changed it to read only and then back to read and write, but that didn’t do it). When I move files out of onedrive onto another part of my hard drive, I do not have permission to access those files. As such, I can almost never use the laptop without it being plugged in. Sometimes it overtakes the CPU (generally at around 106%), and if I dare quit the application, it exacerbates the difficulties below. I cannot see what it intends to do or why it is doing it. OneDrive continually processes changes, sometimes over a thousand-this continues even without my making changes to OneDrive contents, and has me worried that it will begin to delete files again at random.
I cannot download a copy of my online Onedrive, because the archives show errors when I try to open them (I think this is a known issue that has to do with the size of the archive), and I don’t know if this would work anyway. Ideally, I’d like to just backup all of these files somewhere and sift through them and pick out the ones I need after I’ve eliminated OneDrive, but obviously, as I won’t be able to access them, so that’s not an option at this point. I now have numerous copies of the same files and in some cases entire folders, many of which are often inaccessible to me. I had tried reinstalling/resetting OneDrive and many of the suggestions in the forums, including some Terminal scripts and such, but they either don’t work or make things worse. I need to extricate myself from OneDrive completely, but after having tried for over a year, I cannot accomplish this for reasons outlined below. Many files have been deleted without my having deleted them. I need to get rid of OneDrive on my Mac, however I can’t lose the files there, and when I create a backup, I do not have permission to access many of the files.
